Seeing the Judge post the number 5 in the frame was a sight to behold, confirming that the consistent filly HUMANISE had just chalked up her second victory from four trips to the races in The Rising Star Series Heat 9 Class 1 Handicap - Heat Of The Rising Star (1200 Metres) at Bathurst on Friday 19th December, she has now recorded two wins and two placings from four starts.
The three-year-old daughter of Red Element must have a liking for the crisper, cleaner air of the Central Tablelands of New South Wales as both of her wins have been recorded in the district, her other being at Orange.
After beginning well, HUMANISE, backed in from $4.00 to start a $2.70 favourite and ridden by apprentice Jess Taylor, settled just off the pace and was travelling nicely.
Jess rated the filly to perfection and held her position on the rails until the home turn. Once the field had turned for home, HUMANISE was eased off the rails and was asked to quicken and responded accordingly.
At approximately 175 metres from the winning post the filly was reeling in the leader STRIKE POWER and in doing so, had pinched a break on the rest of the field.
A late challenge came from another well fancied runner the Max Crockett trained four year old gelding, ARE YOU LUCKY. After giving HUMANISE six to seven lengths at the 400 metre marker, weaved his way through the field and once he found clear running, sprouted wings 75 metres from the line to just miss, going down by the barest of margins.
In both of HUMANISE's wins the photofinish image has needed to be closely scrutinised to determine the winner and she has gained the verdict each time. To the winning owners, CONGRATULATIONS on another fine effort by your filly and to Jess Taylor for a gem of ride.
