Scott230The long trip from Clarendon near Richmond to Port Macquarie was well worth it after Qamar, a four year old daughter of Mutawaajid, notched up her second win in fine style, at the juicy odds of $14.00. She was victorious in the Tiles With Style BM50 Handicap run over 1206m at the Port Macquarie race meeting held on Friday 14th November. The mare was first up after a spell and had come on well since competing in a Randwick barrier trial two weeks earlier.

After beginning smartly, her rider Melinda Graham, had her mount in a nice position, 5th one off the rails, travelling comfortably. Approaching the 600m the speed quickened with Qamar starting a move to gain ground on the leaders Reformatsky and Baby She Rocks. Rounding the turn for home, Melinda angled the mare out into clear running, Qamar responded going to the post full of running, recording a very comfortable 1 3/4 lengths winning margin.

Scott and his team have put some work into the mare in a bid to overcome her inconsistent behaviour around the barriers, their efforts have paid off with Qamar not requiring a barrier blanket to go into the starting gates and jumping cleanly.

The team at Singleton Racing congratulate the members of the Wingnut Sports Syndicates managed by G Hannigan and owners S. Singleton, D. O'Toole, E. Crump, D. Bissett, D.Repaja on their success and are sure there's more wins in store.
