PARTNERS recorded a victory at Goulburn on the 3rd August 2018. The group comprising B.K. Breeding & Racing Pty Ltd, Singleton Racing, Mitchell Bell and an up and coming thoroughbred youngster carried out their business in a totally professional manner.

Displaying speed beyond his years in a barrier trial at Hawkesbury (winning by over six lengths), PARTNERS, a three-year-old son of Nicconi out of a Danehill mare in Midnight Fling (Midnight Fever), had run a nice race at Wyong nearly three weeks ago prior to today.

The step up in distance to 1300 metres and a trip to the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales provided PARTNERS the opportunity to ply his wares on the racetrack and ply them he did.

As previously mentioned, Mitchell Bell was the jockey, allocated weight 56.5kgs and PARTNERS ($4.20/$3) had drawn barrier eight out of nine. Overhead the sun was shining but the wind-chill factor was cooling things off a bit.

Over at the 1300 metres start, there’s a nice long straight before hitting a bend which allows jockeys every chance to settle their mounts into a preferred position. Mitchell took that opportunity and by the time the first turn was looming, PARTNERS was close to a length and a half in front and getting along at a good clip.

Past the 800 metres pole PARTNERS was setting a solid tempo now leading by over two lengths. Closing in on the 600 metres mark, Mitchell released the brakes slightly and with that mark behind them the duo were a bit more than three lengths ahead.

Rounding the home turn and having a bit of a breather, the balance of the field were beginning to close on PARTNERS. The jockey still sitting confidentally in the saddle biding his time before the final ask for another effort.

Well into the straight now, the first to challenge the leader was Frugal, it came and went in the blink of an eye. Mitchell asked his horse to lift, and PARTNERS responded kicking nearly three lengths clear.

Sweetest Eyes another Warwick Farm-trained galloper was narrowing the margin steadily but it’s run was ending with 100 metres to go. It was the fellow-trained Hawkesbury horse Sizzled that was finishing strongly, making up quite a few lengths within the last 75 metres of the race.

PARTNERS was equal to the task and still travelling strongly, the pair crossed the finish line near enough to two and a half lengths in front of Sizzled with Sweetest Eyes taking third placing.

A pat on the back for Team Singleton for getting PARTNERS to the winners stall.

Congratulations to B K Racing & Breeding Pty Ltd, it’s great to see your horse get his first win on the board. Him being a bold front-running type and strong through the line should hold him in good stead for his future endeavours. We wish you good fortune.
