Scott230After an emphatic win at Hawkesbury on Thursday, 13th of September, trainer Scott Singleton declared his horse Cliffsman has many more wins ahead of him.

The 4yo gelding by Foreplay carried 59kgs and overcame a poor barrier, sitting three wide the trip, to take out the Hawkesbury BTW Communications 4YO&UP Maiden Handicap over 1000m. It was only his second career race start. Luther, the short priced favourite in the race, could not get near Cliffsman who at the top of the straight headed his rivals in the 12 horse field and hit the line powerfully to win by 2 lengths, running a class record in 57.06 and the last 600m in an impressive 33.87 seconds.

The unraced Cliffsman was purchased by Scott's brother Dean at the 2011 Inglis Summer Tried Horse Sales for a mere $400. Since the purchase the gelding has notched up a second place at Hawkesbury, back in March this year but unfortunately bled during the race and had to be spelled. Jockey Natalie Lye said "Scott has done a tremendous job getting Cliffsman back to the races and winning first up with him. He feels a lot stronger this preparation and Scott and Dean will have a lot of fun racing him".
