A recent addition to the stable, BIG ON FAME claimed victory at his first up run in five months, doing it in style coming from last in the field, courtesy of a great ride by southern districts jockey, Richard Bensley.

The four-year-old son of American stallion Big Brown had to contend with jumping from barrier ten out of the field of eleven runners and carry the topweight of 61kgs.

The track at Goulburn was rated a Soft 5 for the meeting and it was held in glorious sunny weather.

The last race of the day was a Benchmark 55 Handicap, BIG ON FAME was easy in the market and after opening in the betting at $10 eased to a starting price of $13.

When the gates were activated, BIG ON FAME was slow out, settling at the rear of the field. The duo remained there and were travelling at a nice easy pace.

On passing the 800m mark, BIG ON FAME was eight to nine lengths from the leaders Heza Clown and Izzy Squizzy.

With 500 metres to go, the pace began to quicken, jockeys were beginning to position their mounts in order to give them every opportunity of success.

BIG ON FAME came round the bend about six horses off the fence, with a wall of horses in front of him.

Richard then summed up the situation and instigated a winning move. He saw that the field had moved away from the inside rail leaving plenty of room for him to pilot BIG ON FAME into the gap with clear running room ahead.

The jockey began to urge his horse along and BIG ON FAME responded, gaining momentum with every stride, 300 metres from home he was vying for the lead.

One hundred metres later he was in front and hitting top speed.

With the winning post looming fast, BIG ON FAME maintained a winning break and went on to win by a long neck from Appello, which was coming again on the line.

The strong finishing Tenacity Lad the shortest of margins away in third place.

Congratulations and a huge thank you to the owner Mr Lawler on your horse's win and for entrusting Singleton Racing with your horses.

We are so pleased we were able to chalk up another win for BIG ON FAME, and we sincerely believe there are more wins in store not only for him but for your other horses under our care.
